.About
The Popterror project was born in the minds of 2 French designers in Lille in 2023.
A 3D Fx Artist and a Graphic Designer, a 21-year-old and a 48-year-old, a son and his father.
Romain trained at the ArtFX school in Tourcoing. He creates 3D animations and effects for cinema and advertising. He has also worked in automotive design (KIA Europe Design Center).
Fred studied illustration at the Beaux Arts in Tournai, Belgium. After working as a cartoonist for the press and the web, he pursued a career as an Art Director in communications, trans-media projects and animation (Samsung / Airbus / France Télévision / Groupe M6).
Rediscover the pleasure of the imagination
Popterror asserts the right to invention and original creation, with characters that exist for themselves in their shapes and styles.
The Popterror object, whether small or monumental, is the central element of our artistic proposition.
The challenge of our creations lies in the minimalist choice of postures, in the neutrality of the emotions, so as not to impose a universe on the public, but rather to be a support on which everyone can deposit their imagination.
.Story
Fans of contemporary art, graphic design, popculture and, above all, Art Toys, the starting point was the desire to combine their techniques to create volume works together.
After extensive graphic research and a series of pencil sketches, the character “EQSO” was born.
A playful, colorful universe based on childhood codes took shape.
The first prototypes were produced in resin on a 3D printer, then the project was presented during a participatory financing campaign (Kickstarter February 2024). A few months later, a limited edition collection of 3 Art Toys (500 copies) was released.
Following the enthusiastic reception of the Art Toy community and Toy Makers, the Popterror duo now offer new “Shape” models for large formats or monumental creations.
Around their artistic universe, collaborations with other designers are already underway: Artist @hellomeda offers a series of limited edition posters based on the EQSO design.

Fun Fact
Between 2006 and 2015, the XO telescope (Hawaii) announced the discovery of a series of stars and exoplanets named XO-1, XO-2 and XO-3. Following this event, one of the XO planets and its inhabitants (EQSO) became interested in our planet in return.
